Youth and women participation at local government
Last year the Cogta department in KwaZulu-Natal announced plans to incentivise older councilors to exit the system while encouraging younger women to play a more active role in the system. This Mail & Guardian webinar debated the issue and was hosted by the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, which is is committed to radical perspective emphasising public awareness, enlightenment and social critique. The speakers were Dr Nthabiseng Moleko, Deputy Chairperson, Commission for Gender Equality; Khaya Sithole, Economic and Political Commentator; and Warren Makoga, Former Student and Youth Activist at Wits University. It was moderated by Award-winning TV and Radio Broadcast Journalist Cathy Mohlahlana.
