HI-TEC Introduces A Re-Imagined Sneaker In Celebration Of Nelson Mandela & In Support Of The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund
The Freedom Shared campaign kicks off with the much anticipated release of the Freedom 67s sneaker, a re-imagined take on the modest tennis shoe. The London-born brand honours the incredible journey walked by Madiba in the hopes that we would one day see a democratic country, where all children are equal and supported.
The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, founded by Madiba in 1995 does exactly this, addressing the daily challenges of South African children in need. “The number one goal and priority of this campaign is raising funds for the NMCF” says Andrea Engelbrecht, Head of Marketing of HI-TEC South Africa.
HI-TEC is gifting a limited run of 67 pairs of the Freedom Grails 67s to freedom ambassadors donating to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund as well as bringing awareness to this campaign. 1 of these extremely limited edition 67 pairs will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. Following this, in the spirit of Nelson Mandela’s dream of freedom and equality for all, HI-TEC will be making this iconic shoe available to the wider South Africa as well, with the release of 1200 pairs of the Tier 1 Freedom 67s, followed by 2000 pairs of the Tier 2 Freedom 67s.
“Mr. Nelson Mandela wanted freedom for all, and with this in mind, we wanted to make this sneaker available to the greater South Africa, so everyone may feel empowered to walk in his shoes. However, staying true to our cause, we have pledged to donate a portion of each pair sold to the NMCF. In addition, Hoorah Digital has pledged R50 000 for a pair of the 67s, so we may also make a small difference.” says Simon Spreckley, Chief Creative Of Hoorah Digital Consulting.
HI-TEC® and its ambassadors are welcoming the world to walk with them and to #KeepFreedomShared by supporting the
campaign and donating to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund – keeping President Nelson Mandela’s legacy of creating freedom for all, including children, alive. In the words of Madiba himself, “The purpose of freedom is to create it for others.”
Register here to enter the HI-TEC Freedom 67 Auction. Tier 2 will be released in Archive & Sportscene
