Details on the plot of the project are currently slim, with the only known information being that Argento has penned the script for the film with Franco Ferrini (Once Upon a Time in America) and will reunite with his daughter Asia Argento (Dracula 3D).

They are my admirers, they know all my cinema,” Argento said of Daft Punk in an interview with Repubblica. “They heard from French friends that I was shooting a new film and called me [to say], ‘We want to work with you.’” He adds they will be sending him the first tracks soon and make a visit to Rome when it’s possible to travel, while also noting the duo think his script is one of his “most interesting.”

Argento also noted that the duo have already begun developing tracks from one of “his most interesting” scripts and have promised to send them soon and that once travel restrictions have been lifted globally, they are planning to make a visit to Rome to chat with the writer/director.

The 79-year-old Italian filmmaker mentioned that he hopes to begin shooting the film in September.

It will be my return to crime films,” the director said. “It’s the adventure, in the nocturnal Rome, of a Chinese girl and child. In the second part, the escape takes them into the rocky, bushy countryside of Lazio. [It’s] different from the sweetness of the Tuscan valleys, but for me beautiful.

While it’s been seven years since Daft Punk last released their Album of the Year Grammy winner “Random Access Memories,” it’s been a decade since the duo worked in the film work after composing the score for 2010’s Tron: Legacy, which was nominated for the Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack Album for Visual Media, losing to Michael Giacchino’s score on another beloved Disney production, Pixar’s Up.
